A 5-day residential experience for young men aged 14 and older at Azahara International — learning what it means to be a man of character through Qur'anic role models and practical astronomy, alongside outdoor adventures like archery, hiking and farming in the Andalusian mountains.

Shaykh Dr.
Ahmed Saad

With over two decades of scholarly experience and practical wisdom, Shaykh Ahmed brings a unique perspective to his teachings. He holds a BA in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University and a PhD in Theology and Religion from the University of Birmingham, combining rigorous traditional Islamic learning with Western academia. His engaging delivery and deep empathy make complex concepts accessible, relevant and inspiring for youth.

Common enquiries

Can we pay in installments?+
Yes — installment plans are available, typically in three installments completed before the camp.
What is the refund / cancellation policy?+
Cancellations before 4 weeks of camp: 50% refund. Cancellations thereafter have no refund, but the place can be transferred to another boy.
What are the sleeping arrangements?+
Boys sleep in shared dormitories of up to 4 per room, allocated by age group. Each boy has his own bed, pillow, and storage space. Bedding is provided. A limited number of shared rooms with up to 2 boys per room are available on request.
What bathroom facilities are available?+
Indoor and outdoor showers and toilet facilities. Hot water is available throughout the day. Shower gel, toilet roll and basic amenities are provided. Each house has 2 bathrooms and 2 or 3 bedrooms.
Are there laundry facilities onsite?+
Yes — this will be covered as part of orientation on arrival.
What is the minimum age for the camp?+
The camp is open to boys aged 14 and over.
Where is the camp located?+
Azahara International, WG5J+VV, 18420 Lanjarón, Granada, Spain. Granada Airport is 50 minutes away; Malaga Airport is 90 minutes.
How do we get from the airport to Azahara?+
After registration, participants receive a pre-retreat form requesting flight details. Airport pickups are arranged either privately or with costs shared — typically €100–€200 depending on the pickup.
What time should we arrive and depart?+
Arrive on Thursday 24 July in the morning or early afternoon. The programme starts at approximately 6:00 pm. Departure on 29 July is at 10:00 am.
Is the site secure?+
Yes. Staff are present 24 hours a day. No participant may leave the site without prior written permission from a parent or guardian.
Will there be access to phones?+
Phones are kept safely by staff and returned during a daily window for calls home. Parents can contact the camp at any time in case of urgency.
Can parents visit or stay at the camp?+
This is handled on an individual basis — please contact the organisers as early as possible. A separate family camp is also available.
My son has additional needs. Can the camp accommodate him?+
Please contact the organisers before registering so individual requirements can be discussed.
